Are you a business man planning to invest and set up a business in Canada? If you are one of those prospective immigrants to Canada, it is the right decision ever taken.

Canada has been rated as one of the top three destinations to do business in the world by Forbes in one of its recent studies. The main variables for study were the business and economic situations in 127 different countries of the world. Based on the above factors, they were ranked accordingly.

The results showed Denmark topping the list for two consecutive years now with the United States on the second position. Canada came third in the series climbing from four spots below when compared to last year.

The other important variables measured during the study were the following:

  • Economic Strength – This was not merely based on the Gross Domestic Product or the GDP of each country or the level of employment opportunities. Instead, it focused more on the socio – economic data from different sources such as the World Bank, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Transparency International.
  • Investor Protection Measures
  • Intellectual Property Rights
  • Domestic Stock Market Performance and Personal Freedoms

This study can be considered as good news for the investors affected by the recession crunch. Canada is a ray of hope for such business enterprises. Immigrants in Canada who are not of English origin have always faced difficulty in landing with good job offers. These have also been proved by many Canadian research studies.

Today, discrimination by many biased Canadian employers is a matter of concern for the country. Many research studies have shown that non – Canadians with English names are more likely to get appointed for a job when compared to those of Indian, Chinese or of Pakistani names.

Metropolis – an Immigration and Diversity Research Group conducted a study by sending more than 6000 fake resumes as a response to different job advertisements in the Toronto region. The study showed applications with familiar English names had 16% more chances when compared only 11% chances for names of other nationalities. All these groups belonged to same level of education and work experience.

It was also found out that those non – English names with Canadian work experience but foreign education were even less preferred with only 8% rate of response. However, people with no Canadian work experience and foreign education had only 5% chances of getting a response from an employer.

With this, the fake resumes with additional skills, voluntary work experience and other extracurricular merits had better chances but still not to an extent where it could help much to an applicant.

This study is a clear example of why unemployment rate amongst the immigrants is higher (11.5%) when compared to the local unemployment rate (4.9%).

Thus, if you are an immigrant in Canada, it is highly recommended that you consider and apply the following tips:

  • Since Canadian employers prefer Canadian references, it is best suggested that you get some Canadian references. This could be done by interacting with the locals such as your neighbors etc.
  • Chalking out an appropriate Canadian resume is a must. Get to know about what Canadian companies expect from a prospective employee. Get some tips on how to write a good Canadian resume.
  • Above all, most of the employers in Canada find it difficult to pronounce non – English names. Hence, it is advised to have a pseudo name or a nick name which is easy for a Canadian employer to understand and pronounce. You can mention it clearly on your Canadian resume.

All in all, the high unemployment rate amongst the immigrants and the biased response is due to the lack of trust and credibility for the immigrants. This could only be resolved by providing for what is required by the Canadian companies.

However, efforts should be made by both parties to balance the situation. Incase, you plan to immigrate to Canada as a skilled migrant, it is highly recommended that you contact a seasoned Immigration and Visa specialist who is updated with all the current aspects in Canada.

Marked by the end of nine days of Navratras, Dussehra is a popular Indian festival, celebrated with great cheer along the length and breadth of the country. It was on this auspicious day that the ten-faced demon-king, Ravana, was defeated and killed by the great Lord Rama along with the rescue of his wife, Sita, who was abducted by Ravana.

happy-dushera

In simple words, the day holds great significance as it signifies the triumph of good over evil in the Hindu mythology. The legendary victory is reenacted every year as the north Indian parts of the country still burns huge effigies of the demon, Ravana, along with his giant brothers, Meghnath and Kumbhkarna. The crowd bursts in great cheer as crackers within the effigies catch fire.

With immense happiness and joyfulness, Abhinav conveys best regards to all its associates. We hope you stay by the victory of good always and never fall by the side of evil. Let the light of triumph diminish the darkness in your life. Happy Dussehra!

Recently, the UK government came out with a points based eligibility system for UK citizenship, which is just an extension to the already existing PBS for both work and study visa.

Under the new system, the applicants’ skills like economic contributions, proficiency in the English language and other positive facets would be awarded whereas those involved in “active disregard for the values” or found breaking the law or engaging themselves in criminal activities would be penalized according.

The newly introduced system would allow the government to have a greater control over those who are planning to settle down in the country. According to Mr. Phil Woolas, Border and Immigration Minister, the measures would bring a positive impact on the overall workforce and the UK economy.

He further stated that in order to stay in the UK, people should fulfill the mandatory requirements by obeying the laws and having proficiency in the English language.

If you are interested in migrating to the UK, contact an Immigration expert for guidance and advice on which Immigrant program is meant for you. It would be wise to try the prior assessment offered by an experienced Immigration firm and know your eligibility criteria.

HIPPY – Home Instruction for Parents of Pre-School Youngsters, a program that helps parents prepare their kids for school and beyond, is expanding its roots in various Canadian cities courtesy two federal departments - Citizenship and Immigration Canada (funding of $3,150,544 ) and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (funding of $336,782).

The program recently celebrated its ten long years in Canada with a funding of almost $3.5 million. HIPPY assists parents in handling the basic requirements of their children and help immigrant families know more about the Canadian way of life, language and culture in a better way. Another motto of the program is to remove all the barriers and bring all the families together in nourishing their children in an enhanced way.

Funding by federal programs has further enhanced HIPPY’s operations in various places like Toronto, Red Deer and Halifax, to name a few. According to Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney, these funding would allow HIPPY to expand its roots and reach to various families who are really in need of programs of these sort.

HIPPY accredits that parents are the first educator to their child and believes in reducing social isolation in the society. In addition, the new curriculum would be draped with more Canadian content in order to offer a deep insight into the Canadian culture and their way of life.

Immigrants planning to work and settle down in Canada should commence further by taking every step cautiously! Presenting resume in the right manner forms one of the most critical aspects of fulfilling your dreams of working in a prospective country like Canada.

Therefore, one must understand that a resume presents your own personality and overall achievements in front of your employer and should be crafted in the most professional manner, fulfilling the guidelines set by a Canadian employer.

It has been found that people copy the resume format of other applicants and present it to their prospective employers. This makes a complete negative impression on the employer as he is always in a hunt for a creative and original resume rather than the one having a pseudo image!

On the verge of it, applicants copy the entire qualification, experience and other skills, baring their name that is easily identified by the employer. They don’t understand a simple point that they might get selected for their interviews but what if they are asked to show the proof of their qualification!

Use the vocabulary in accordance with the Canadian standards. Have your documents translated into French or English, if you want your employer to understand your qualifications and skills thoroughly.

One last tip: Always mention the qualifications that are relevant to your job profile. It would be foolish to mention your experience in the sports industry, if you are applying for the job as a music teacher.

Contact an Immigration specialist and make your application process a child’s play!
