The new Indian foreign policies which were recently introduced showed doors to around 3000 Chinese professions working in India on various power projects. This is expected to have a drastic impact on the current power projects which are being worked on mostly by the Chinese professionals in India.

Almost 30,000 mega watts of power project could go off course minus these Chinese professionals. With professionals being removed from 20 different power projects, it is a matter of worry for the development of these projects as well as for the country. From these, around 4000 mega watts worth of these projects require immediate attention by these Chinese professionals.

This is because these projects have been assigned to many Chinese companies which in turn have brought many Chinese professionals to work in India. Off these, the professionals working on business visa have been sent back. This is the perfect example for not maintaining a divide between the business visas and the employment visas in India.

For ages now, there is no defined boundary line between the two. Thus, in September 2009, the Indian Home Ministry issued a statement which stated that only those foreigners who came with an intention of setting up a business in India would be granted a business visa. The other professionals who are merely sent by their respective companies are permitted to work on an employment visa.

In addition, for a company, the workforce consisting of the foreigners should be only 1 percent of the total employees. Otherwise, 20 individuals in total, whichever of the two are lower. However, this policy has been considered to be not sufficient by many for the work to be finished.

With these amends in place, those Chinese professionals who were rejected a business visa are now finding it difficult to get an employment visa. This is post clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

With modifications at such a crucial stage, it might cost heavily on the construction projects in India. Power being an important aspect with many villages still not receiving electricity in full form, it can aptly said that these professionals could be set as priority to finish all the pending tasks.
