Cash is the main bait given to the Asian women when it comes to luring them to the sex markets of New Zealand. But according to recent investigations, these women are bought in the condition of slaves and offered money to get into the tasks. These women mainly belong to Malaysia and are recruited by third party agents who not only offer them financial aspects but air tickets to come to the land of Kiwis.

After the women are bought to the country, brother owners are ready to pick them in hand, but later their passports are seized and they are forced to hold the work as sex-workers in order to repay their loans back.

According to one such Malaysian victim, she told another sex worker that she was given an amount of 5600 dollars to land at New Zealand, but was forced to holds shifts of as long as 16 hours, which only few breaks in so many days. She used to work in Auckland Club, but the owner of the same denied any such blames.

According to NZ Herald, the owner stated that she was fearful that she might lose her passport and that is why she kept it with me for the purpose of safety.

According to Glenys Robinson, who is the manager at Immigration New Zealand border security group, it is onus of all the employers that they do not allow their employees to play with the conditions of their work permits.

Experts believe that the condition of sex workers working in New Zealand is going from bad to worse day by day.

An angry immigration minister of New Zealand Jonathan Coleman is upset with delay in processing of students permit. There are about twenty five thousands applications of students which are yet to be assigned by the officer. The entire process of granting permit to the students is taking about eight weeks on an average. The minister is asking its department people to think of some ways which would speed up the things.

Some educational institutions have complained that there are some students who have been waiting for about five months for their permit. And even after waiting for such long time, they have not been contacted from immigration. Coleman in a press expressed his anger and said that this situation can not be accepted and one must come out with a solution. He got to know about the delay in the process when he spoke to export educational institution in a seminar in Auckland last week.

He further spoke that he is also angry with his department as they did not informed him about the situation. But he is looking forward to meet important people from his department to resolve this issue. New Zealand has to speed up and match the processing time of Australia at least otherwise they have a lot to lose. He is looking forward to hold a meeting with officials and come out with some real plan. Many students prefer New Zealand over Australia for their further studies but delay in process can discourage them to apply for New Zealand and this can create a bad image of New Zealand in education sector.

There are many education agents who are complaining that there are many students from South Korea and Japan who are waiting for their permit for last many months. And they were holding to their education on the basis of visitor’s visa. This is truly an obstacle for Australia to establish itself in overseas education sector. If they can not provide the visa properly then how can they assure good education?

A boys school in Auckland has banned the overseas from working as the officials at the institution feel that students who opt for the option of working outside fall asleep in their classes.

Hence, in an attempt to keep them awake, their working out has been totally banned. Sandra Heslin, who is the international student manager at the educational institution, is also asking the immigration Minister to bar the overseas students’ work entitlements with a particular age limit. She went on to say that the whole theory of working after the classes is not liked them. Just because these overseas students get involved in various employments after schools hours, it makes them sleepy in the classes. Most of them work in Korean or Thai restaurants in the night hours.

She, in a restrictive manner said that their educational institution has its own set of rules. Students are not allowed to have a 20-hour job or any other timing for job as they are here in the school for the purpose of studies only.

Felix Ye who is the director of the Auckland Grammar’s international student director stated that a lot of overseas students come exhausted; drained out and sleepy in the classes. These aspects affect their academic life in a major way.

Critics are of the view that the chance to work on a part time basis gives students the chance meet people outside their educational institution and enhance their relationships.

According to Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman, few amendments are likely to be there on the cards concerning the export industry in New Zealand. These changes are likely to affect other major areas including students coming from overseas, and industries related to trade and tourism aspects.

The minister confirmed that the changes are likely to be inculcated in various facets like short-term study entitlements, enhancing the condition of work rights for overseas students, a relaxation of pastoral care and guardianship requirements and other aspects.

The announcement happened in Auckland at an even organized by Tourism Auckland. Almost 100 export providers gathered at the event, in order to discuss the future of export industry in New Zealand.

The Immigration minister further confirmed that the policy would see some major changes to ensure that overseas students who come here to study don’t make use of their education to gain permanent residency in the nation. It has been found in various cases that people make wrong use of Student Visa as a means to gain permanent residency in a country. As far as the statistics are concerned, 93,500 fee-paying students were enrolled in the education institutions in New Zealand as compared to with 88,570 in the year 2008.

Critics believe that amendments in the export policy would enhance the aspect of immigration in the upcoming future.

Immigration Minister Jonathan Coleman has stated in his statement that crime is a major issue which requires proper addressing from New Zealand’s point of view as far as the tourists coming to the country are concerned. The country needs to be attractive for people who come to study or visit its tourists destinations.  The government needs to be rigid on the crimes against the visitors!

The comments by the minister are followed by the warning that was placed on the website of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It stated the rising amount of crime and theft in Auckland, a warning which allowed the Kiwi Minister to speak out his words in this regard.

Dr Coleman then spoke about the reality stating that one cannot say that New Zealand is not a nation where crime is totally missing. Therefore, it is mandatory to work upon these aspects in order to make the country an alluring and interesting place to visit and study.

The meeting was held in Auckland and was coordinated by Tourism Auckland. Other aspects which were discussed in the issue were the challenges encountered by the industry at present and how to work upon them in the upcoming future.

The meeting discussed on the fact of students coming to the land of Kiwis since the past few years and the statistics have seen a hike in the last six years. The minister also provided hints on the implementation of various new policies to boost the industry’s growth.

The Migrant Expo is going to hold its annual event which focuses on providing jobs to Asians in New Zealand has changed its focus to self employment and money management this year. This event provides a great opportunity for foreigners to find a suitable job for themselves in New Zealand. But this focus has been shifted to self help employment because of high level of unemployment amongst local people in New Zealand.

New Zealand has always managed to recruit many skilled migrants but they are the last priority for Kiwi employers to employee them, as the preference is given to local New Zealander only. The changing scenario of economic condition and rising unemployment rate in country makes it very difficult for foreigners to find jobs for themselves. Through recent survey, it has been reveled that nearly 510,000 people are unemployed in Auckland and the rate of unemployment has reached from 5.1 percent last year to 7.3 percent this year. And figures are worse in case of Asians, as the unemployment rate is higher than 9.8 percent making more than 22,000 Asians jobless.

Mainly, it has been manufacturing, retail and construction and financial and insurance service industry industries whose graph of unemployment has shown maximum decline in jobs. Employed citizens always have an upper hand for settling in New Zealand in comparison to unemployed and this is the reason that so many Asians look for job in New Zealand.

The Migrant Expo is going to hold its event this year which is an only annual event in which students, refugees and migrants can gather information about various issues related to settlement in New Zealand. Visitors can be a part of seminars, career planning, money management and worker’s rights. But this time they are really wondering that what fruitful results this event will going to yield as the focus is more on self employment due to lack of job opportunities in New Zealand.
