A new book on immigration issues is being launched by a leading Banker in Germany. This banker was known to have led to an outrage amongst the Jews and Muslims for his comments pertaining to stereotyping them. This has come about amidst calls pertaining to his removal from the board of the federal bank.

The remark made by Thilo Sarrazin was that there is the same gene when it comes to all Jews. With this, Muslim migrants in Europe are not ready or not capable for mixing with the societies in the west. Sarrazin has been working for the Bundesbank in Germany.

This comment did not go very well and had come along with the launch of the book named as Deutschland Schafft Sich Ab which means Germany Abolishes Itself. As per book, immigrants have not contributed to the system of welfare in Germany but have taken more from it.

According to Chancellor Angela Merkel, discussion should be carried regarding the dismissal of this banker from Bundesbank. The Muslim and Jewish communities have also expressed strong disapproval of his remarks.

Above all, it has to be understood that when it comes to immigration, each nation looks into its economic benefit. So, immigrants alone cannot be blamed for this. After all, these migrants are the ones who leave their native state to contribute to the economy of a particular nation.

With immigration cap being set in by the UK government for immigrants coming from the non-EU nations, another turn of events has taken place now. This time, it’s the cut on Aussies walking into Britain. This has come about after a release which stated new figures projecting an increase in the total immigration to UK.

Prior to elections, a promise was made by the Conservative Party a few months back there would be a cap on the total immigration and would be brought down to less than 100,000 in a single year. This would be done by lowering the total number of economic immigrants from nations such as Australia and so on which are not a part of the European Union.

However, the recent figures projected that the net immigration saw a rise when compared to last year. There was an increase from 163,000 to 196,000 which clearly shows that there would soon be a steep cut in immigration.

Already, the government of David Cameron has implemented an interim cut of 5% on the total number of skilled migrants who are being granted a visa. These include those people who are not the citizens of the European Union nations. At the same time, the employers are being consulted with regarding how to go about implementing long term cuts which would be executed next year.

The Australian firms which are functioning in London intend to join the British companies to participate in the process of consultation which would take place in the coming weeks. They believe that the British government should not make it tough for the foreign employees to come to Britain or to hire foreign skilled migrants.

The main reason behind this sudden rise in the number of immigrants has been the constant influx of foreign migrants to study where as less Britons were leaving the nation. This number dropped to 36,000 last year from 90,000 in 2008. So, the only way to bring about a balance is to cut down on net immigration. At the same time, being a member of the EU means that the EU citizens have to be permitted free access into the nation at all times. This leaves the nation with no choice but to cut down on the immigration from the non-EU nations.

It is being planned by the New Zealand government to grant interim visas to all those foreigners who have been living in the nation on residential permits which have expired. This way they could continue to reside in the nation while they could submit new applications and are being considered in the meantime. As per the present rules, those immigrants living in the nation on either work permits or residential permits; these permits tend to expire automatically as soon as visa expires.

According to Jonathan Coleman, the Immigration Minister for New Zealand, this visa been brought about as a part of the New Immigration legislation. This would be implemented for the applicants to obtain from November in this year itself. He also said that a new program for sponsorship which would enable the various governmental departments as well as the organizations to sponsor foreign migrants under the rules of the Talent and Visitor policies. This would also cater to the needs of the sponsorship as well as those of the stakeholders.

This would be a huge alleviation for all the foreign migrants residing in the country of New Zealand. This is because this would enable them to work on a temporary basis after their visa has expired. In the process, a new application could be filed. This would make it much easier for these migrants.

The EB-5 visa has slowly come about to become one of the most sought after visas with many immigrants planning to invest in the US economy and make it their permanent home. Being an investor program, it requires a candidate to invest and contribute to the US economy by creating more jobs for the local people.

The EB-5 program has been responsible for aiding the people of the United States with many employment opportunities with millions of dollars being poured into the US economy.

Despite the positive aspects of the program, there are certain misconceptions which tend to arise due to confusion. After all, it is never that everything could be found on paper. One of the major misconceptions of this program is that this visa is very difficult to obtain and once obtained, it is tedious to keep up with the terms and conditions.

The major part of this myth involves doubts pertaining to the background checks of the applicant’s finances. These background checks have become stringent, especially post 9/11. This aspect is not only confined to the EB-5 program but to all aspects of immigration to the United States.

When it comes to the EB-5 program, a thorough background check is done for the money that is to be invested. This is to ensure that this money has been acquired legally. At the same time, the source of these funds (as far as they are legal) does not form the most important criterion of the application process.

The other requirements of the program are not as difficult to meet as it is thought to be. The requirements are more or less similar to any other immigration program in the United States. However, there is one aspect which most applicants are worried about is the job creation part. As per the guidelines, an investor must create a minimum of ten new employment opportunities in a particular region. More so, the local Americans should fill in these vacancies.

It is agreed that the above is quite challenging. However, this could be made easier by designating his investment in a particular Regional Centre which is high on the unemployment rate. These Regional Centres would aid in the process of monitoring the investment as well as in ensuring that business turns out to be productive.

More so, the Regional Centre should be selected after a thorough research and the business plan should have been developed accordingly. The business should have had a successful track record in the past.

Above all, it is agreed that some prior work needs to be done before and post applying; it is not similar to not getting a visa. It is not as big an obstacle as it is made out to be. After all, the US government has the responsibility of making sure that it has selected the right candidate to invest.

Being an island continent, Australia is considered to be large to accommodate as many immigrants as possible. But then people forget that it is also the smallest continent. It is a known fact that many immigrants from various developing nations across the world view Australia as a prospective destination to seek better opportunities for life.

However, no matter how big or small each nation is, it can only sustain a certain number of people. If the limits are extended, it would have a dire effect on the resources of the nation. This aspect has led to the Australians worry about the issue with most of them now opposing immigration.

As per one of the recent surveys conducted to obtain the viewpoints of the local Australians on this issue, it was seen that major part of the respondents agreed to put a cap on immigration. This survey was conducted by an independent survey firm known as AustraliaScan. The survey has two thousand respondents. As per the survey, the response could be considered as being almost equivalent to sentiments pertaining to anti-immigration which was prevalent in the late 1990s.

At same time, experts claim that these sentiments are not similar to those of the 1990s. The previous sentiments were based on racist feelings. However, at present the responses have arrived due to the issues of sustainability of the nation.

This is because despite being an island continent, it has only limited number of resources at its disposal. With the population constantly on the rise, these limited resources would be depleted too soon. As of now, the main trigger behind this sudden increase is definitely immigration.

On the other hand, with population comes pollution. This would have dire effects on the environment which cannot be compromised at any cost. It is but obvious that with pollution would lead to the generation of toxins which would make the land not fit to dwell on.

Another aspect of high importance amongst the citizen of Australia is the issue of security. It is a known fact that global terrorism is a major threat that the world is dealing with today. With this comes international crime. Keeping this aspect in place, immigration would mean simply inviting more trouble. Putting a cap on immigration would to an extent cater to this problem.

With the above key points in place, it cannot be said that the issue would be solved in the near future. As of now, the Australian government has brought about certain amends which has restricted the course of prospective immigrants.

According to reports, the permanent population of New Zealand has increased by a heavy margin. The main reason behind this increase is due to the increase in the level of immigration seen in this beautiful country in the month of July. As far as the overall increase in concerned, the hike is seen of 15,200 for this year.

The reports are taken from Statistics New Zealand. The department has also confirmed that the net as well as permanent and long term arrivals from people from different countries have seen a hike as compared to the annual average of 11,900. This statistics has been recorded for years starting from 1990 till the year 2009.

As far as the statistics are concerned, a net 16,500 people crossed Tasman permanently. This figure is for July 2010. This has been calculated after noticing departures of 32,300 people and arrival of 15,800 applicants. New Zealanders were the majority amongst these immigrants.

According to BNZ senior economist Craig Ebert, the problem lies in the fact that people usually default to the statistics which are taken on the annual average basis. Also, these people ignore the underlying month on month figures.

Also, there has been a hike in the permanent departures and a continuous trend has been witnessed in the same over the past year. But now it has tended to freeze with more and more people waiting for the outcome of global crisis. Elbert further said what they may be seeing at present is the stabilizing permanent arrival figure which indicating low levels, but not going in a negative direction.

A research by William Kerr from the Harvard Business School and William F. Lincoln from the University of Michigan has also been referred to in the report.
