According to a statement by the UKBA, the agency will start a ‘fast-paced process’ for issuing national identity cards to Tier 2 (Skilled Migrants) Tier 1 and Tier 5 (PBS) after the New Year.

The issuing of Tier 2 will start three months ahead of the planned date and the same for Tier 1 and Tier 5 will commence in the year 2010, instead of 2011.

According to Home Secretary Alan Johnson, 90,000 foreign nationals are granted identity cards, the figure that has far surpassed the target of 15,000. He further elaborated that the speeding up would ensure a prevention of illegal migrants benefiting from getting the any advantages offered by the UK government.

Johnson clarified that the collaboration between agency and Post Office would not only speed up the overall procedure but also make it convenient for international applicants. He said that the alliance would offer a “vital extra energy” for the smooth commencement of the entire process.

His statement points that the Post Office is delighted to be a part of this affinity. All in all, it’s an excellent news for prospective applicants who are planning to immigrate to the UK in the upcoming months. Just hire and Immigration expert to know more… All the Best!
