IPL is starting from tomorrow onwards. Just when I was thinking that everything is commencing in a smooth manner, a controversy regarding Match Fixing has emerged out of no where…
Two of the best batsmen in the cricketing history – Pakistan’s Younis Khan and Mohammad Yusuf, have been sentenced with a lifetime ban which surely marks and END to their cricketing careers. The news has drawn cry from cricket fans from all over the world, but that’s what these culprits deserve for backstabbing their own country – a country which has given them name, fame and almost everything throughout their lives. These so called traitors have sold their country for just a few bucks!
The speculations of Match Fixing started brewing during a recent series against Australia, when the Pakistani team lost against Australia by a huge margin. It was a clean sweep in Test Matches, One Days and T20… Imagine Pakistan’s teams didn’t even manage to win a single match! And do you guys remember the famous ball tampering incident involving Shahid Afridi in the same mentioned series. He chewed the ball as if he was eating an apple and that too in front of the whole media! I mean, imagine the guts of this Pakistani player! How can he do so, when a small child can tell that Ball Tampering is a serious crime in Cricket!
The suspicion was bound to happen! After the series got over, PCB came into action and conducted a deep investigation, punishing the culprits their deserving punishments in the end!
Hence, here we are with the results: Both Younis Khan and Mohammad Yusuf have been permanently banned from the national team. In addition, present captain Shoaib Malik and bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hassan are sentenced not to show their faces in the team for one year. Each player was also fined $24,000. It has been said that hard-hitter Shahid Afridi, bowler Umar Akmal and wicket keeper Kamran Akmal may be fined Rs. 3 million each!
Pakistan has already faced serious bans for the last 12 months or so. It was not long back when it was stripped off from its right to conduct International Cricket matches in Pakistani stadiums. Wonder what the future has in store for the great Pakistan and its great Pakistani Team!!!

these backstabbers should be blacklisted from the countries too
The difficulty as I see it the highly corrupt cricket adminsitration.
What have they gained out of match fixing? Except for some money, they have lost everything they had earned and worked for…it takes ages to earn respect but a few seconds to lose it forever.
shame on you guys!
I will be interested in knowing their comments.
We are intelligent set of people and therefore we must not make up our mind on just some reports. There will be many things to say. One cannot call them BACKSTABBERS until there is real proof, althought i admit that it is very likely that they may be engaged in such a controversy but one cannot be sure until truth is firmly established.
SO BE CAUTIOUS COMMENTING ON SOME REPORTS IN FUTURE.
The above is in relation to Younis Khan and Mohammad Yusuf. Althought, Shahid afridi’s crime is proven.
punishment was definitely well deserved but,…the game loses as a result of such shameful incidents & the purpose of the game, the sportsmanship is defeated.
I wonder what learning such people give to their children.
…mohd. yousuf youhanna… dont look like a fixer…
there might be some consipiracy going behind these decision….
It’s not like that some one is calling them bad boys of cricket, just on the basis of his or her own decision, it is the official report of the PCB which punished them for indiscipline. Now in Pakistan media is also blaming the National Hockey Team for a defeat against India, that this match was too fixed.
@Mr. Shekar, it’s not written on the face of a player that he is a fixer..however, i am not convincing you that these reports are true..they might be half-true or false…
@shyamolee…i agree with you but one cannot assume that everyone is a fixer…you have to believe what you see until something happens like this…
when PCB has confirmed this report,, kuch doubt kisi ke mind mein reh hi nahi jaata… true that ban has been lifted,,,,but these guys surely have some linkage with match fixing,,, australia mein jaakar clean sweep hui hai,,,kuch to gadbad hai,,,and then u hav shahid’s ball tampering issue,,,is he a child ki usko nahi pata
@Aamir- I agree. We should not call them names. The problem in Pakistan is lack of democarcy and corresponding corruption. While players are to be blamed for on field performance, it is administrators who oull the strings and make a mess of everything. There is no doubt though that not willing a single match does raise many questions on players. This is not Bangladesh or Zimbabve we are talking about. This team was a very talented team and loosing all matches need some explaining. All in all a sad day for cricket world. I never feel happy when things go wrong in any way in Pakistan. They are our neighbours and somehow what happens there ends up affecting us in one way or the other.
ya i truly agree with all of you, but the important thing to be asked is why always pak cricketers involve in this type of business??
it’s their own decision?? or Lack of Financial support from their Board??
but yaa truly shameful…
Well, I am really surprised to hear the news that they dismissed the entire Hockey team, which participated in the Hockey World Cup. I know that they performed badly, their team remained at the bottom of the tournament, but it does not mean that they should be punished in this manner. There will be good and bad, both type of performances in a sport, but it does not mean that the country will not support the players in the time of bad performance.
