HIPPY – Home Instruction for Parents of Pre-School Youngsters, a program that helps parents prepare their kids for school and beyond, is expanding its roots in various Canadian cities courtesy two federal departments – Citizenship and Immigration Canada (funding of $3,150,544 ) and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (funding of $336,782).

The program recently celebrated its ten long years in Canada with a funding of almost $3.5 million. HIPPY assists parents in handling the basic requirements of their children and help immigrant families know more about the Canadian way of life, language and culture in a better way. Another motto of the program is to remove all the barriers and bring all the families together in nourishing their children in an enhanced way.

Funding by federal programs has further enhanced HIPPY’s operations in various places like Toronto, Red Deer and Halifax, to name a few. According to Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney, these funding would allow HIPPY to expand its roots and reach to various families who are really in need of programs of these sort.

HIPPY accredits that parents are the first educator to their child and believes in reducing social isolation in the society. In addition, the new curriculum would be draped with more Canadian content in order to offer a deep insight into the Canadian culture and their way of life.
