The occupation of a registered nurse is one of the occupations which are in-demand in Australia. The main reason behind this is the short of skilled professional in this field who can perform the job efficiently. So, foreign skilled migrants are invited to apply for immigration to Australia to live and work in this specific profession.

This occupation is mentioned in the ANZSCO list. This list is divided into two lists known as Schedule 3 and Schedule 4. Incase, the occupation in question falls under Schedule 3, it has to be applied for through the General Skilled Migrant program. On the other hand, if it falls under Schedule 4, it has to be applied via the Sponsored (State Nomination/Blood Relation) or under Regional Programs. This gives the applicant a choice based on his needs and requirements.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Catering to information for the patients and their families regarding the treatment and care.
  • Working with various health professionals, health team members and organizing care for patients accordingly.
  • Monitoring and supervising the work of nurses who are enrolled along with other health care workers.
  • Catering to medications and monitoring the response to these treatments as part of the interventions, treatment and therapies.

Apart from the above, there are additional responsibilities which the professional would be expected to perform.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher education.
  • In some cases, both qualification as well as relevant experience is required to qualify for the same.
  • On the job training might be required in specific cases.
