The remarkable dip registered in the number of the overseas students — coupled with the quick swell noted in the number of very experienced migrants migrating to the mines of Australia – has witnessed a scarcity grip the hospitality sector of the nation.
In reply to this deficit, reportedly, Canberra intends to change visa restrictions of the country and boost the number of experienced workers to work for the involved under performing industry.
In view of the changing situation, in immigration paths of the country, Canberra believes that the hospitality industry requires at least 35,000 additional workers, even as this number may become 56,000 towards the end of the next four years, or by 2015.
The intended changes to the 457 visa requirements are tailored to inspire the skilled workforce to Down Under — including bartenders, waiters, and hotel managers — to fill-in these much-required vacant positions.
However, the disclosure has not gone down well with many, with several workers’ unions even declaring that, thanks to the visa change, the citizens of the nation would lose several opportunities related to job.
Refuting such claims, a concerned person was quoted as saying that it was not about snatching away, from the people of Australia, the precious right to do the job — the reason being though they have been there since long people have not shown much interest to do the available jobs.
It needs to be mentioned that while Australia continues to have a reasonably manageable rate of unemployment, across the board, the rate for youth job loss has been gradually rising during the past four years or so.
