In the year of 2008, there were more than 160,000 students from India who went to abroad for their higher studies. However, among those 160,000 students, only 4,000 went to Canada. Considering this figure, with a purpose to increase its number the Canadian universities are putting a lot of efforts to attract a lot of students to the Country. It will not only increase the number of immigrants to the country but also will play a great role in fulfilling the educational need of Indian students for higher study in Canada.
According to a source, York University of Canada will start its first Canadian campus in India. Moreover, by the year 2013 Schulich School of Business of York will also establish the hostel facilities for the students of India.
Along with York University, the Regina University also has declared that they will be providing the facility of a joint degree in kinesiology with the Karunya University of India. They have mentioned that 30 students from India will be allowed every year and they will be eligible to study 2 years in each of the country.
Apart from these two universities, in the beginning of this year, Simon Fraser University and the University of Winnipeg have sent their delegates to India.
Moreover, Carleton University is reported to be organizing a couple of conferences between India and Canada for discussions on education and innovation with representatives of Universities of India. This particular university will very shortly be establishing Canada-India Centre for Excellence in Science, Technology, Trade and Policy.
