Celebration of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Canada!

While visiting India in last November, Barack Obama the President of America has remarked on India as “India is not simply emerging; India has already emerged.”

Last week in Toronto, about 1000 delegates have celebrated the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas or “Day of Overseas Indians”. Hosted jointly by Indian Government and the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas centered on  the subject of “Building Bridges: Positioning Strategies for the Indian Diaspora”. It was a two-day occasion where government officials, ministers, entrepreneurs, academics, business men were present.

The event mainly concentrated on trade, investment and engagement of youths. This event has helped in identifying the underlying importance of 27 million of its descendants around the world. In a series of exhibitions and events which is called the “Year of India in Canada“, PBD was a member.

According to the Canada-India Business Council President, the event of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas leads to the emergence of Toronto on the “Indian global circuit” along with the other traditional big countries like London, Singapore and New York in particular.

Establishment of the Overseas Citizenship of India, Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre and starting of the Global Indian Network of Knowledge are some of the very significant projects of PBD conference this year.
