US President Promises Immigration Overhaul

In what is being claimed to be the most definite promise ever made to the Hispanics community of the United States till date, the nation’s President has reportedly declared that he would positively address the vital issue of immigration policy during the first year of his second tenure in the office. However, Barack Obama made it clear that he needs the support of Congress for the same.

Hispanics community occupies a key voting segment during the presidential polls. During the 2008 polls, the current president had captured a good chunk of the crucial Hispanic vote even as his ongoing election blitzkrieg expects a similar result this time around too.

Coming back to the declarations, although the president declared that that he would address the issue of immigration this year, he observed that he lacks support from the Republican Party in Congress. Attacking his presidential contestant from the Republican Party Obama reportedly added that the said person nurses radical views on the issue of immigration even as he backs legislations that, in all likelihood, would see individuals randomly being stopped and asked to produce citizenship documents on the basis of the belief that they could be unauthorized migrants.

Strongly replying to Obama’s claims, a concerned republican critic was quoted as saying that the President dwells on the issue of immigration overhaul only during the polls, and when he’s looking for votes. He added that the president had vowed to pro-actively address the issue of immigration reforms during his first year also. And, despite being over than three years into his term, the nation is still to hear anything concrete on Obama’s promised immigration plan.
