South Australia State Sponsorhip occupation List

In order to qualify for State Sponsorship, the applicant must meet all the requirements relevant to the applicant’s situation and the type of visa he/she is applying for. An eligibility for South Australia’s state sponsorship means the applicant should have been assessed by the requisite authority, must have met all the requirements of sponsorship, must meet the minimum language requirements as demanded by the state, and the applicant must nominate an occupation from the South Australia State Sponsorship Occupation List or the State Nominated Occupation List (SNOL) of the current year (2012). Also, the occupation in the updated list must be ‘available’.

The chosen occupation of the applicant from the list must then be validated by a prominent Skill Assessment authority. This positive Skills Assessment is required from the applicant even if the qualification was obtained in Australia. One must keep in mind that the availability of occupations may diminish as planning levels are met. Therefore, availability of occupation is also a matter of time of nomination decision.

Applicants must strictly meet with all the criteria and conditions applicable on any occupation of choice. The skill assessment is valid only up to a certain period of time, after which it effectively expires. Therefore, the formalities should be done within the stipulated period of time. Also, each occupation on the list has a ‘planning level’ which should be met mandatorily. The prior work experience required for the SNOL should be of one year; however, it is subject to a waiver if the applicant has graduated from South Australia (certain conditions may apply).
