A recently concluded poll in the US suggests that the US voters are quite divided on several subjects involving immigration. When probed if the migrants are helpful–and in the overall interests of the nation–not more than 35% of the respondents apparently said that they believe that they are harmful even as 45% of the respondents observed that in their opinion the people from overseas have been useful for the country.
Reportedly, the last time a comparable poll was conducted during 2010. Then 41% of the participants had disclosed that immigrants are of use. It means that Washington DC is becoming comfortable with the idea of immigration, though to a certain extent only.
US Parties Divided
The said poll also discovered that the American Democrats are relatively more in favor of immigration, vis-à-vis the Republicans, even while 56% of Democrats opine that the immigrants are helpful, vis-à-vis just 31% of the Republicans.
The poll in question also found that the numbers of the American electorates–who believe immigration to be one of the issues, which creates fear and anxieties amongst them–is heading south. During 2010, 71% of the American voters covered had proclaimed that they are either worried or highly worried with the issue of the overseas movement of people to the American shores.
Obama Doing Fine Job
The poll also discovered that 47% of the American electorates consider that the US President is doing a reasonably good job on the subject of immigration even as 46% opine that Barack Obama is not performing well.
