Massive Manpower Requirements of New Zealand to Continue

As per as certain fresh reports, opportunities are galore in New Zealand for the daring workers, not only in the construction industry but also in several other trades and vocations in the re-development of Christchurch. About three years back–on September 4, 2010 to be precise–a powerful earthquake, measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale, had jolted the Canterbury region–wherein Christchurch is located only to be followed by a chain of aftershocks which continued well into 2012. Christchurch was hit most severely even while the quake brought about widespread harm and destruction therein.

While the city cathedral was badly damaged, hundreds of people lost their lives. Though the loss of life was reasonably insignificant, numerous affected buildings ought to be knocked-down. Reportedly, Wellington aims to re-construct Christchurch at a likely cost of 8.5 billion New Zealand dollars or 4.7 billion British pounds.

Aftershocks Delays Reconstruction Works

Hitherto, not much work has been carried-out as the aftershocks continued into 2012. However, the same is presently being concretized with much seriousness. Though a significant number of the jobs are in construction, many are also available in the supplementary service vocations.

In this context, a concerned person allegedly observed that Christchurch requires construction employees, legal secretaries, accountants, office support & IT experts, etc. He added that the immense employment requirements of the bodies associated with Christchurch’s rebuild efforts would continue for some time.

This is another matter that the city–even with the attraction of additional jobs and improved wages, as compared to the remaining regions of the nation–is finding it rather tough to attract the nationals what with several of them allegedly informing the media that they are not much enthusiastic about shifting to the city, as they fear additional quakes in the future, and because of the reported scarcity of services & property therein.

It denotes that there would be even more work opportunities for the aliens. Sensing this, a leading recruitment firm from the city has established a bureau in Britain, and would open another soon. During 2012, there has been an overall growth of 1,600 overseas employees in Christchurch. And, the biggest figure of the workers from abroad has shifted from the Philippines. A large number of workers have also arrived from the UK & Ireland.

Talking about the development, an involved person from a top recruitment firm company allegedly disclosed that it is no wonder with what’s taking place in Canterbury even as the situation on this front would continue to be the same—at least for some more time in the future.
