Ottawa to Cut Down Citizenship Backlog

According to certain fresh reports, the wait times for the prized and the much sought after citizenship of Canada would be decreased with the reason being the federal administration is preparing to close the files of all those aspirants, who could not be present at the multiple scheduled interviews or tests meant for citizenship.

Given this, the visa-submissions presented on or post April, 17, 2009 will be closed, if the candidates failed to proffer residency evidence even after obtaining 2 notices from Ottawa. According to the new administrative data, 54,000 candidates for citizenship have failed to appear for citizenship test during the past 3 years even as it denotes close to 12,000 citizenship petition files would be closed.

Those who are rather serious about becoming citizens will not have to cool their heels for long behind those, who present excuses for not being able to appear for the test/interview of the citizenship for the Maple Leaf Country. But, the submissions of those–who are left with no options, except to miss their citizenship test/interview–won’t be closed.

For those aspirants–whose Canada citizenship petition file has been closed, but who are still interested to obtain Canadian citizenship–may do the same via submitting a new petition. Such candidates will have to cough-up the latest citizenship submission charges though. Those who have resided in the nation for 3 years, out of the preceding 4 years, and who already are a permanent resident in the country, may submit a submission for citizenship.
