Canada Immigration Foreign Service Officers Call Off Their Strike

The Foreign Services Officers have entered into a provisional accord with the Canadian authorities and have joined back at work after nearly four months. Their return to work will bring in a much required relief for people who have been waiting in queues for more than a quarter of a year.

The effected classes of migrants in waiting include

  • Skilled workers who have filed their requests either
    • Through provisional work permission scheme, or
    • Through FSTP and FSWP

The move to Call off Strike is being held as a good omen for the Canadian tax payers and FSOs. The accord will enable the FSOs to draw salaries almost at par with the civil servants.

With the deal being signed between the authorities of Canada and Immigration Foreign Services Officials, the applications which have been piling up are expected to be cleared rapidly.

Currently, CIC has already piled up a huge stack of applications from various countries of the world from where numerous people have placed their requests to gain entry on basis of the

  • International students programs, under which thousands of people have lined up their requests to gain admission into Canada on basis of pursuing their higher studies in Canadian institutions. There are several well known educational establishments in Maple country imparting courses in various higher academic perusals that include engineering, healthcare and hotel management etc. The ending of strike also brings in good news for the Canadian institutions as they will be able to carry on their educational programs without problems now
  • Provisional work permission schemes. There are several people waiting for clearance on both sides of the immigration window. On one hand the employers who are in a dire need of trained expertise will be able to get qualified people to fill up the vacant posts and on other hand the people who have been waiting for visa will be able to travel and enter country
  • Permanent residency routes including
  • FSTP – a revolutionary skills migration program launched earlier this seemed to lose its shine as the strike went into an overdrive and continued for longest period (in history of Canada)
  • FSWP – the most ambitious skills migration scheme was launched in a revised avatar amidst the apprehensions of an impending Immigration Officers Strike. People have been placing their requests and till now most of the people have been waiting for the process to start
