Concerned Canada Supports its Home Care Workers

In view of the large number of old and infirm people in Canada, the profession of caring for disabled elders & persons in their homes & communities has reportedly become one of the swiftest growing professions in the country. Therein, the profession is usually called home care services. Some concerned people claim that the nation needs drawing skilled labor force to the care giving jobs. Via offering the basic salary standards, Ottawa aims to make the job valuable for those involved with it.

Updated Rule

As per a report, the Labor Department toiled hard for nearly two years evaluating 25,000-plus comments from the general public. Close to 76 % backed the proposed regulation meant for the home care workers in the Maple Leaf Country. A large number of individuals were found to be in favor of updating and improving the said rule to make certain that the final law would prove useful and beneficial for the home care providers. These people also stressed that the latest regulation wouldn’t have any unhelpful influence whatsoever on either the home care providers or their customers, as alleged by some people.

The organization also delayed the endorsement of the law for about 15 months. It was allegedly giving time to the private recruiters and schemes to change with the latest overtime regulations. Regrettably, the holdup gave a good chance to those who were not much in favor of the rule even as they opposed its execution.

Passing of Latest Regulation

The House Majority organized a hearing to welcome opposition to the new rule. Some people claimed that the updated rule will boost the expenses for families which need home care services. As per them–thanks to the changed rule–the elderly persons and those suffering from infirmities will have no options, except to prefer nursing homes. The House Majority opined that giving attractive salaries would invite superior standard of care.

Those who support wage improvements for the home care workers claim that giving the employees a just rate is perfectly all right and in the interest of the public. The Maple Leaf Country requires a rather trained and qualified home care labor force so that individuals from every age bracket may, without any difficulties, live, without help, at their own homes, remain hale and hearty, & take part in every activity.

Revised Rule’s Object

Numerous arguments of those who were against the updated and improved regulation were allegedly molded to frighten the consumers. These they were not based on sensible aspects. Confirmation from 15 states offering the bare minimum salaries and overtime to the labor force clearly establish that there is not any association whatsoever between the guaranteed salaries for the home care employees & institutionalization.

Supporting the home care labor force is crucial to keep persons away from the nursing homes. A poorly paid worker cannot provide superior services needed by millions of homes throughout the nation, it is claimed.
