“Death of Nitin Garg” and “Indian Student Visa Applications Showing a Downturn”

Amidst the recent negative facets like “Racial Attacks” and “Stringent Visa Regulations for Student Applications,” Indian student visa applications for Australia showed a massive decline between July and October 2009 as compared to the year 2008.

The applications by Indians from abroad fell to 11,183, showing a fall of 46 percent while applications from other countries dropped 23 percent during the mentioned tenure, according to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

The death of Nitin Garg has further fueled the matter to a greater extend with people from all over the world condemning the attack in a major way. Racial attacks on Indian students have dominated the all the newspapers, websites and blogs since the last year, but still nothing has been done in favor of controlling these brutal deeds against the Indian students.

Australia’s police also stepped ahead to investigate on the killers of Nitin Garg. Inspector Bernie Edwards has appealed to the local residents to provide more information on the murder to identify the killers of the innocent Indian youth. The inspector has asked that the killers to surrender themselves as they would be guaranteed safety in all ways. He said that “if the person who killed Nitin is listening, then he should come forward and surrender himself.”
