The much talked about and widely popular Canada Federal Skilled Worker Program 2014, frankly speaking, needs no introduction. Perhaps, the program is the easiest and the most preferred way for skilled professionals, from across the globe, to immigrate to the ‘Land of Opportunities’. Future immigrants desperately wait for the program to be announced. The scheme welcomes skilled professionals from different disciplines who are capable to play a decisive role in the growth of the Canadian growing economy.
In April 2014, the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) made an announcement regarding the scheme mentioned above and the same has become effective from May 1, 2014. Under the program, the number of occupations has been increased to 50 with a total cap of 25000 petitions and a sub cap of 1000 petitions par line-of-work, par country.
Key Requirements
Following is the minimum eligibility criteria
1. Minimum one year of work experience in any of the Skilled Occupation mentioned under the List 2014-15.
2. The candidates should have scored 6 bands in the IELTS.
3. They should have scored 67 points out of 100 points in the point based system.
Main Aims
The chief target of the program is to meet the scarcity of professionals in various sectors. As mentioned before, it is basically a point based program. Skilled professionals are straight away given residency with the option to immigrate without a job offer. The applicants, with prior job offer from a Canadian employer, are not counted. Each applicant is analyzed through a grid map consist of following six factors:
1. Age
2. Education qualification
3. Work experience
4. Arranged job
5. Language proficiency in either of the two Canadian language i.e. French and English
6. Adaptability level
