Canada has time and again, come out with various measures to boost the procedure For Immigration applications. Despite all this, stats have clearly depicted that a backlog of Skilled Immigrant has been created.
According to critics, the backlog has been created as a result of plenty of already pending applicants which still lie in hundreds. In addition to the old backlogs, the overabundance of applications to certain job categories has added to this backlog in a massive way.
Figures show that 7 1/2 years is what turns out to be the average processing time from the visa posts. In addition a total of 6 lacs prospective applicants are waiting to get the 80,055 skilled immigrant visas which would be given this year. The backlog is really huge!
Immigration experts say that this is an early warning for the Immigration authority and the processing time would hike even further in future. It is required to remove the job category which brings a lot of applicants together.
The opposition parties think that the new Immigration rules which were crafted to bring down the excessive backlog won’t solve the complications of backlogs as such.
Immigration expert Renald Gilbert believes that the challenges are many, with “resources” being the key facet amongst all!
According to Immigration spokesperson Kelli Fraser, for applications filed after 26th Feb’2008, more than 80% decisions on the applications were made within a span of seven months. She also confirmed that the old backlog has been depreciated by almost 40%.
More backlogs surely mean boosting of processing time, an aspect which needs a thorough consideration at its initial stages!
