UK Visa Fee Hiked!

UK has hiked student visa fee structure, raising the fee from £145 to £199. Further, there are plans going on to introduce a “Dependent Visa” which would bring more visitors to the country. The changes have been implemented from 6th April 2010. In Addition, fee for short term visit visas has been increased slightly.

According to an official press release, the new category of introduced visa would relatives including parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles to join the clan settled in the UK, provided the age of the dependents is above 18 years.

Talking about the Tier 1 General, Investor, Entrepreneur visa fee, the same has been hiked £690. Earlier, it was £675 for the same category. Talking about the Tier 2 visa, the fee for skilled workers has been hiked to £270. Earlier, it was £265. The changes would surely affect the number of applicants coming to the UK, keeping in mind the fee difference in some of the categories.

Talking about the Tier 4 student visa fee, it has been hiked to £199from its original position of £145. The settlement visa fee has risen to £644. Additionally, a rise has been seen in the five year multiple entry fee also. It has boosted to £429, while it was £400 earlier. Talking about the 10-year visa, it has been aggravated from £500 to £610.

The release further added that the UK government is striving to maintain strict border security along with providing best services to the customers. At the same time, the aim is to attract migrants who can provide valued contribution.
