Applicants who are intending to visit U.S. on a temporary stay/ for training purposes or a short term stay, then J-1 Exchange Program Visitor Visa would be the perfect option for them. The program came into existence when it was proposed under the Mutual and Cultural Exchange Act.
The motto behind this was to propose exchange programs and allow the applicants to enter the country to participate in the program. The participant must keep this thing in mind that he or she must return back to the home country before the visa expires.
During all this while, the applicant would have the freedom to remain in the country and travel in and out. For all this, it becomes mandatory for the applicant to gain acceptance into the program category by the organization before intending to apply for the visa.
There are certain participants who are bind by a two year residency mandate, which implies that they don’t have the freedom to make another visa application for the next two years. The restriction is applicable for participants whose programs holds sponsorship from the U.S. government, the government of his country of origin or if the country applauds the training as “specialized.”
The best part about this Exchange Program is that the visa is decked with no cap. And also the participants can take their spouse or children with them (as long as the visa is valid), provided the sponsor allows them to accompany them.
However, there are certain limitations and eligibility criteria that an applicant has to fulfill before applying for the same. Consult an Immigration expert for more info on this.
