According to recent reports, Australia is geared with more Indians than Italians! The Indian community has almost doubled its size as far as the statistics from the last six years are concerned. Critics believe that the number of Italians has decreased down further; one of the reasons for the same might be the death of post war migrants, which lead to a threat in the minds of future prospective from Italy.
It has been accounted that the year 2007-2008 saw the highest number of immigrants from India coming to the land of Kangaroos as compared to any other country, making it the fastest growing community. The number has surpassed the number of Italians living in the country, a number which was ahead of Indians, when it comes to one of the biggest migrant communities settling in Australia. Hence, now the country ranks at fourth position.
Some of them fall in the category of skilled immigrants, some take up various other jobs, while some come on student visa, hoping to work further. The year 2002 saw 110,563 Indian born people in the country while the year 2008 witnessed a sharp increase taking the number to 239,295, which means almost twice the original. China was applauded as the second biggest source, providing immigrants to the country, with New Zealand and Britain coming next. The rise is expected to hike further.
The recent data clearly depicts the popularity of Australia as a prospective immigration destination amongst Indians.
