A detention center in Malaysia is witnessing huge hunger strike! Plenty of asylum seekers from Sri Lanka have gathered together at the scenario.
These asylum seekers have not eaten a single food grain since Tuesday and are decked with their own demands. They want to be recognized as refugees which would further allow them to get all the rights associated with the refugee status.
Malaysia has allowed refugees who are registered by the UN agency to reside in the nation until they can be resettled to a third country.
In an incident which happened last month, reports confirmed that 75 Tamils were detained from boat, which according to the place officials was trafficking them to Australia. It is confirmed that these people were kept in a detention centre. Australia in general is seen as an applauded and favorite destination to immigrate from people from all over the globe. People who fail to qualify under general requirements take assistance from illegal routes like sea route to gain entry in other country.
Authorities have confirmed that they were kept in the detention center without even letting them know as to what is happening to them. A spokes person from the Detention center has confirmed that the situation is stable till now. He decided to maintain his anonymity.
