John McCain, the Senator from Arizona has finally raised his voice and said that he would back a reform program to the United States’ immigration system which would deport illegal immigrants from the nation. His tough stance on immigration reform is being considered by many commentators a strategy to secure right-wing votes and strengthen his vote bank for the future!
In a recent interview, the Senator expressed his views regarding the unlawful residents in the US. According to him, these residents must be deported and there should not be amnesty for the same. He was also caught saying that he is not favor of any plan which would facilitate illegal immigrants to become legal residents in the nation. However, he did not stand against the temporary worker programs and added that such a program is important! John McCain also suggested that companies that provide employment to illegal immigrants should be prosecuted. But, critics are amazed at McCain’s views that completely contradict his outlook on immigration that he expressed in 2007. McCain then co-sponsored legislation with Senator Edward Kennedy that included a path to legalization.
Arizona’s new immigration legislation which makes it mandatory for outside United States’ nationals to possess documentation which support their status in the US, whether they are legal immigrants or not is taking its effect on July 29. Besides, the legislation gives power to the police to question immigrants about their status when the former have doubts of illegal immigration. The US Justice Department has already viewed that the legislation would bring a lawsuit against the State alleging that it is unconstitutional.
