Prisoners from Pakistan Repatriated!

Sixty four nationals from Pakistan (a majority of them belonging to the profession of fishermen and served as were internees in Indian prisons) have been repatriated across the Wagah border after the commencement of their tenures in various Indian jails.

11 were released from Amritsar jails and one (a teenage child Arshad) was repatriated from a jail in Rajasthan.

The prisoners who are departed back from the Amritsar jails are the ones who were arrested at the fence of Indo-Pak border without having decked with proper visa and passport related papers. Rest of them were released from the jails in Gujarat and are those fishermen who went on to barge into the Indian territories while performing fishing related activities in the Arabian Sea.

One of them expressed his happiness on the release and said that the hue of water is same in both the regions. It was unintentionally that he performed fishing related activities on the shores of India and was arrested by the officers of Indian Navy. The latter asked him questions on his nationality. Confirming that he is from Pakistan, he was taken into custody and put in jail.

Arshad has been applauded as an intruder by Mohammad Aquil, who is the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of BSF. Accusations have been made against him that he has been assigned the task of performing infiltrator related activities.

All the prisoners looked elated on their release.
