The economy of Australia has been doing well, and it is one of those economies that was less affected by the recent global meltdown. Of late KPMG, a global business consultancy firm revealed that ongoing boom the nation helped diminish the unemployment rate and also raise the demand for overseas skilled workers. Overseas skilled workers are needed to fill the positions to meet its labor market requirements. The consultancy firm also indicated that this trend is likely to increase in the coming years.
KPMG’s report says that Australian employers are required to welcome more skilled workers in order to meet the demand for skilled labor in the country. The study also found that states in the country facing skills shortages. Some of those states include Queensland and South Australia.
There is only one way that these states could meet the skill shortages. To address the situation, employers should apply to employ skilled workers under country’s 457 temporary employer-sponsored visa scheme.
State like Western Australia has already been benefited by the country’s visa schemes. Various visa schemes helped the state in bringing in skilled workers to join its labor force.
The Skilled Migration Survey 2010 caught 85 percent employers, out of the total surveyed saying that the global meltdown did not affect their businesses, but maximum businesses are suffering to a considerable extent due to shortages of skilled labor. The current situation implies only thing that the Australian government should pay attention in revamping the country’s skilled immigration schemes for the betterment of the Australian work force!
