Government of Canada Sponsors Immigration for Tibetans in Arunachal

Reports have confirmed that Tibetans living in various parts of Arunachal Pradesh adjoining the territories of China would now be able to go to Canada, courtesy the favorable step adopted by the Canadian government.

It has been confirmed that the government has nodded to smoothen the progress of immigration of Tibetans residing in secluded areas of Arunachal Pradesh. This step came subsequent the demand from Tibet’s exiled religious leader the Dalai Lama to inhabit people from Tibet living in various areas of AP, a majority of these areas are not even accessible.

According to a senior bureaucrat in Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the Dalai Lama is worried about the dilemma of these people from Tibet who are residing in difficult parts of Arunachal Pradesh – parts which are out of access and weak with relevance to other settled places in the country. At the same time, he has provided his confirmation on the issue of Canadian government providing assistance to these people in flying to Canada.

In the coming five years, a minimum of thousand Tibetan immigrants would have a facilitated immigration process to Canada, courtesy the recommended program.

It was in the year 1972 too, when assistance was provided from the side of Canadian government, establishing the Tibetan Refugee Program and allowing almost two hundred and thirty immigrants from Tibet to settle down in Canada. It has been said that the concerned refugees were living in various parts of Northern India.

However, the selected Tibetan refugees would be required to fulfill certain requirements linked with the immigration process. These include medical, background and security checks, to name a few.
