According to Statistics Canada, the population of Canada in the third quarter of this year has raised by a huge margin, courtesy the immense increase in the number of immigrants coming in the country from all over the world. Figures point out in the direction that it is the highest immigration rate which has been witnessed in four decades.
As of October 1, the population of the country was estimated to be 34,238,000, – an augment of 129,300 since the month of July.
In accordance with the Federal Agency, almost 65 per cent of this immense hike has been contributed by the new Canadians who arrived in the nation during the gap of these three months. In totality, 84,200 immigrants came in Canada.
This inflow of immigrants reached various provinces and places of Canada, with some witnessing record number of quarterly immigration since the year 1971. For instance, Quebec witnessed the highest growth of immigrants as compared to the statistics of the past four decades. Likewise, Manitoba also experienced a record number of immigrants, with four thousand and seven hundred new Canadians coming in the province.
Although Ontario didn’t break its previous records, new applicants coming in the province made up almost 70 per cent of the new immigrants coming here.
The Federal government is stating that this trend of an increase in immigrants coming in Canada would continue further.
According to Kelli Fraser, a spokes woman for CIC, the year 2010 would end up seeing largest number of PR coming in the country in the last 50 annums.
