In order to apply under the New Zealand Resident visa, the principal applicant along with the dependents must look into the various aspects before taking the plunge. This is specifically in relation to dependent children.
We have mentioned in our previous posts on how to go about with the documentation part for dependent children. However, there are specific circumstances under which more needs to be done.
One such instance is where the child is younger than 16 years of age. Here, the parents are either separated or divorced. Or another instance is where only one of the parent is included in the application. In such a case, it is important to be aware of the following aspects:
- The parent who is the applicant must have the right to take the child overseas. In such a case, the rights pertaining to custody or visitation should have been bestowed with the concerned parents. Evidence for the same should be submitted.
- The applicant must submit documents (certified copies or original documents) such as legal documents for the child’s custody, court order to remove the children from the nation, signed statement from the other parent and so on.
- Incase, there is only one parent because of the death of the other parent, the death certificate of the other parent should be submitted as well.
Another similar instance is where the dependent children of the partner are also added in the application. In such a case, they might not be permitted a visa if they are not found to be dependent on the principal applicant. However, they may be granted a visa if their parent partner obtains a visa.
Such children might also be permitted a temporary visa which is as per their needs only when the parent partner obtains a work visa.
The above are some of the many aspects which are considered by the visa officer before granting a final approval for the New Zealand Residence Class visa.
