New Visa Fee Structure for Canadian Travelers to UAE!

New visa requirements have been announced by UAE. These criteria might lead to higher expenses for all the travelers by about $1000. This is specifically for the visitors from Canada who have to pay this amount to obtain a visa. These amends have come about post a diplomatic spat between the two nations.

The Canadian government did not permit for extra landing rights to two of the major airlines of UAE. The Etihad and the Emirates airlines were not given the permission for the same. Despite fears of this decision being affecting in a negative way, John Bird who is the Transport Minister led to this decision by the Cabinet. On the other hand, Peter MacKay, the nation’s Defense Minister was worried of the negative impact of the same.

If looked into the past, the Camp Mirage military base which is located right outside Dubai was provided as the main ground for staging for the Canadian missions to Afghanistan. However, the same is not applicable anymore with the UAE bringing out a notice for eviction.

It would cost about $300 million for the government of Canada for these forces to be moved out. So, with the new visa which is non-renewable in nature, the Canadian travelers would now have to shell out $250. Now, a visa for three months would cost about $500 and a multiple entry visa for six months would cater to $1000.

This hike was announced in autumn. However, it would be implemented from 1st January. It is a known fact that the UAE is an important travel hub which links Asia, Africa and Europe.

Despite all the above, the government of Canada has refused to lie down. It seems it is on a mission to prove that it cannot be bullied by anyone.
