Crew Members of MV Sun Sea Face Hearings!

According to the Federal officials, four crew members of the Tamil Ship (MV Sun Sea) which came on the coast of B.C last year are facing allegations for having connections with Tamil Tigers and assisting each other for conducting high-seas smuggling excursion.

They have been alleged of posing threat to the overall security of the country. The hearing would decide whether the men in concern would have the right to stay here or not. At present, they are kept into segregation at Fraser Regional Correctional Centre located in B.C. facing interrogation by the officials of border agents as well as RCMP

An official from the Immigration and Refugee Board, Melissa Anderson have confirmed that the hearing is due somewhere in the month of January or February. Melissa went on to say that the allegations are based on charges that the members have links with the Tamil Tigers, hence posing a great amount of risk towards the security of the nation.

It has been reported that out of the total 438 people who came in the ship, 49 women and 157 men have been released on orders granted by the IRB, while others intend to stay back in the province of Vancouver.

If the speculations turn out to be true, the crew members could face heavy charges on the basis of having linkages with Tamil Tigers, hence showing a great amount of hazard to the nation’s safety.
