Normally, an applicant is granted the study permit for the duration of course, plus ninety days. Similarly, work permit follows the same regulation – duration of course, plus ninety days.
Conversion to the post-graduation employment: Students studying in Canada who have completed their course and are still present within the allowed ninety-days duration for changing over to post-graduation employment would still be applauded eligible to gain employment off-campus, but for that it is mandatory for them to still possess the valid study permit along with the work permit they have received for off-campus employment.
Implied Status: Students who have finished their courses, have filed and submitted their application for Post-Graduation work permit, and at the same time having ownership of a valid off-campus work permit and study permit, have the freedom to go on with their off-campus employment till the time their decision for the application comes out.
What happens when an applicant gets a short term study or work permit: When a student is entitled to short-term study or work permit, he is entitled to renew it every annum.
Number of ‘Working Hours’ granted to students:
If the applicant gets approval for work permit, students would have the freedom to work up to twenty hours on a weekly basis, during the time the applicant is indulged in his regular course. The basic requirement is to be a full-time student.
There is no law pertaining to working more than twenty hours, but students are prohibited from working more than the mentioned time.
Medical Requirements
It depends upon the nature of work whether the applicant is liable to clear any medical examination or not. For instance, working in a health care institution would surely need him to fulfill medical requirements before taking up the job.
