Agenda was to discuss various labor issues which are faced by Canada and the United States, hence holding a meeting between Canada’s Labor Minister, the Honorable Lisa Raitt met and the United States Secretary of Labor, Honorable Hilda Solis.
Minister Raitt went on to say that the government is making all attempts to protect the jobs and work towards enhancing the economic growth by discussing ways with US counterparts. Further, it was elaborated that both the nations share a strong and critical relationship with each other and are committed to solve the common and vital labor issues faced by both the nations.
The meeting held recently principally focused on the North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation. As a part of this accord, a side accord to the North American Free Trade Agreement, Mexico, the US and Canada go into a collaborate effort in the field of labor law and ensure that the current laws work in favor of the protection of workers’ rights.
