To order to be able to support an application for New Zealand residence class visa under the Partnership Category, a Kiwi partner must satisfy the definition of being ‘ELIGIBLE’. Let us know the same.
To be eligible to support his/her partner’s application for residence class visa under the Partnership Category, a New Zealand partner must meet the following requirements:
- The New Zealand partner must meet the requirements concerning his/her character set out under the Partnership Category; AND
- The NZ partner must have not sponsored more than just one successful principal applicant in the past under the policy of partnership; AND
- The NZ partner must not have been involved in domestic violence in the 7 years before the date the petition is filed, occurred in the issuance of a resident visa to an individual as per the policy concerning the victims of domestic violence’.
In case, the New Zealand supporting partner himself/herself was a successful principal applicant for residence under Partnership Category, the individual will be regarded eligible to support a partnership application, given minimum of 5 years have passed since the individual was granted NZ residence under the Partnership Category at the time the current supporting application is made; and the partner has not sponsored a successful principal applicant in the past under the Partnership Category.
