Eight skills will be eliminated from the shortage occupation list of Britain in an attempt to higher the skill level of General Tier 2 visa program. This proposal if accepted will result in around 55 percent cut-off of in candidates immigrate to UK under Tier 2 visa program.
The MAC has proposed that eight occupation titles should be eliminated from shortage job list. This pursues the UK’s government intention to elevate the skill level of General Tier 2 visa scheme of UK. It is an outcome of overall reforms in UK immigration programs as last month a proposal made to cut-off 71 skills from the employment list.
The UK government is keen to drag the level of shortage skills of General skilled visa to fourth level of National Qualifications Framework. Along with that MCA has urged for several reforms in other visa categories. The proposal of removal covers occupations such as high integrity pipe welder, skilled senior care worker skilled meat trimmer and meat boner. However it includes senior care worker but will exempt nurses employed in care homes as well as care home managers.
If these proposals are enforced into effect then several job categories will foresee degradation in skilled quota such as only five percent quota for top chef jobs under Tier 2 scheme. Reports suggest that only a little chunk of chefs match the fourth level of National Qualifications Framework. The new proposals involve stringent conditions for chefs such as minimum five year experience and 28,260 pound per year wage.
This will too result in stringent earning conditions. However officials said that we are trying to be selective so that only highly qualified workers can apply and immigrate to Britain. The proposals will impact the labor market significantly as only 230,000 workers will qualify under new Tier 2 visa scheme.
