Where a New Zealand parent category application sponsor has had lost his/her parents and has to sponsor guardian(s), both the parties must produce evidence of the guardianship. Evidence to support legal guardianship of the sponsor may include credentials that support that the principal applicant held the sponsor’s custody, as well as possessed the responsibility to look after the sponsor, before the latter had become 20-year-old. Let us discuss more of the documents:
- Legal documents which could prove that principal applicant was declared the guardian of the sponsor. The legal guardian must have held the sponsor’s custody and in addition had possessed the right to be responsible for the sponsor’s upbringing after his/her biological parents or the adoptive parents have died. In this case, a will from the sponsor’s parents will work.
- An order of the Court which had allowed the sponsor’s legal guardianship to the principal applicant, which includes the custody and control of upbringing of the sponsor, following the demise of the sponsor’s parents and before the sponsor became 20-year-old.
- Documents supporting the fact that the sponsor had lived along with the principal applicant following the demise of his/her parents and prior to the sponsor became 20-year-old.
- Documents that could support the fact that the principal applicant performed the role of a parent for the sponsor following the demise of the latter’s biological or adoptive parents and before the sponsor had become 20-year-old. In this case, school records, as well as medical records would work.
