A New Zealand residence class visa is granted to a principal applicant under the Parent Retirement Category, only if the person meets the following:
- The principal applicant must have met the transfer requirements of the nominated funds/assets; AND
- The principal must have placed the funds into an acceptable investment; AND
- The principal applicant must have paid the applicable migrant levy.
A residence class granted to the principal applicant (or secondary applicant) is subject to the conditions imposed under section 49(1) of the Immigration Act 2009 in accordance with the following:
- The principal applicant retains an acceptable investment in the Kiwi country for at least 4 years under the Parent Retirement Category; AND
- The principal applicant must update the nearest INZ branch about the changes of NZ address(es) during the investment period; AND
- The principal applicant must submit evidence that they are retaining an acceptable investment in the Kiwi country at the two-year anniversary of the investment period; AND
- The principal applicant must provide the INZ with evidence that he/she has met the investment requirement within 3 months after the expiry date of the investment period.
