Australian government is ready to attract more migrants on temporary basis for trainees in Queensland mining sites. Queensland will be the first in the nation to offer new fast-paced apprenticeships for mining sector to build a pool of skilled workers.

The government has taken the move after the official forewarnings that the mining sector of Australia will face a deep shortage of more than 36,000 skilled workers by 2015. Citing the grave situation Australian government is responding to train a pool of overseas workers to accommodate the market demand.

The new visa provision will be fast-tracked to immigrate more semi-skilled or non-skilled workers and train them according to the need of the mining sector. The government has announced a 200 million dollar fund for these training expenditures. The companies involved in mining can assess funding from this 200 million dollar fund to reimburse for training.

The new fast-paced apprenticeship is designed to identify past skills and will slash the four year training module to just one and half years accommodating a pool of one thousand workers. This pool will be divided into forty groups with twenty-five apprenticeships in each group. Soon after the training they will be provided with jobs. The whole blue print was developed by East Coast Apprenticeships, a Queensland based organization.

The announcement raised a controversy regarding new fast paced visa scheme as other sectors are too demanding this type of special visa allowance. But the Government is firm and clear of his plan for allowing more employees by the route of controversial new visa scheme for the booming mining sector. The new visa program will enable companies to get faster access to overseas skilled workers for mega projects. Immigration Department has to meet the deadline of five days to process temporary work visas benefiting the employers.
