A Few Facts About New Zealand Residence Class Visa!

New Zealand is a beautiful immigration destination and the best part is that the country offers foreigners a lot many options to enter and contribute to the economy in some or other way. A Residence Class Visa is one such option that lets aspirants to enter the Kiwi land.

What is a Resident Visa?

A Resident Visa allows applicants to enter Newland and it is basically issued outside the country. Such a visa is valid for 1 year from the date of it issuance. When an applicant is issued with a Resident Visa and if he/she does not travel New Zealand within the time frame of 1 year, his/her visa would be expired. In such cases, applicants must apply for a Resident Visa again. A Resident Visa cannot be renewed, or extended!

What is a Returning Resident’s Visa?

A Returning Resident’s Visa is closely related to a Residence Class Visa. The RRV allows a New Zealand resident to resume their residence status in the country upon expiry of his/her Resident Visa. In other words, when a person with a Resident Visa leaves New Zealand and wants to return to the country, A RRV is something that helps him/her to re-enter the Kiwi land after every overseas travel outside New Zealand.

There are different types of Returning Resident’s Visa. While the validity of the first RRV is two years, an Indefinite Returning Resident’s Visa is issued to a resident once authorities are convinced with the commitment shown by the former towards New Zealand over a certain period of 2 years. Other than first RRV and IRRV, New Zealand also issues 12-month and 14-day Returning Resident’s Visas, pertaining to pertaining circumstances.

Who requires a New Zealand Resident Visa?

A non-citizen or a foreign individual requires a Resident Visa to be in New Zealand, if he/she wishes to stay in the country for indefinite time.

A foreign national may also need to hold a Resident Visa to travel New Zealand, if he/she;

  • A non-citizen
  • Wants to travel and stay in the country for indefinite time

*NOTE: A person exempted from obtaining a Residence Class Visa to travel the Kiwi land is not required to possess the same for that purpose!
