Alberta reports strong immigration between April-June 2010!

The province of Alberta witnessed massive flow of international immigrants this year in the months of April and May. The number was confirmed at 9685! An all time record breaker.

In the initial months of 2010 Alberta reported a slow down in the job market. This development affected the migration of non-permanent migrants in to the province. The number of these migrants decreased by 753.

Between April and June, the number of births reported in the province was 13,755 compared to the deaths recorded at 5319, so by simple math, the province added more than 8000 people in its overall population between April and June 2010.

This natural rise in the population was the highest recorded among all the provinces of Canada. This development led to the population of the province rise by almost half of the existing number of people!

This has definitely benefited the housing industry.

The unemployment rate has come down to 5.6% from the previous 6%. From 2009, this has been the lowest employment rate recorded by the province. Alberta also bagged the 3rd lowest unemployment rate in Canada, with Manitoba in the first position with a rate of 5.1% followed by Saskatchewan with a rate of 5.5%.

According to the economist Sonya Gulati both Alberta and Ontario are on the same level of recovery post recession. They followed different methods to reach to this position. Curiosity has fuelled which of the two will make it first to the finishing point.
