Australian Skilled Migration Program has undergone some changes. Experts believe that these changes will help in improving the inflow of overseas students to the country. The clarification has been provided by the Australian High Commission in Delhi:

• The Student Visa Program is not undergoing any changes. It is the Australia’s skilled migration program which would be subjected to certain amendments.
• The motto is to have a strong economy for the country.
• The changes made to the program are done on a global level and are not just restricted to India or any other specific country. Therefore, the Indian students should not think that they have been targeted specifically.
• The changes are applied from 1 July 2010.
• There are speculations that the changes are applied to student visa also. Such reports confuse people. No student studying in Australia would be asked to leave in between and leave the country.
• Just because people have student visa, it does not gives them any guarantee towards migration.
• The Australian Government has provided generous transition arrangements to provide the surety that the students get the opportunities to fulfill their mottos (be it completing their studies or change their course).
