In the Stage- I, a prospective immigrant has to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ- Certificat de sélection du Québec). The application must be made in the skilled worker class, choosing either of the two- Quebec Experience Program- Temporary Worker (PEQ- Programme de l’expérience québécoise) and the regular selection program for skilled workers- Temporary Worker.
The Quebec Experience Program for temporary worker is applicable to those who are currently employed and if they have served in a skilled job position in the Canadian province for a minimum of 1 year in the past 2-year period. In order to eligible for this program, applicants must be adept in speaking French.
The Regular Selection Program for temporary worker generally assesses the socio-cultural characteristics of a prospective immigrant, as well as his/her spouse or de facto spouse, if included in the principal applicant’s immigration application. Temporary workers residing lawfully in Quebec for a minimum period of 1 year are eligible to choose this program.
The Stage- II starts once an applicant is issued with a Quebec Selection Certificate. After obtaining the certificate, the prospective immigrant is required to apply for permanent residence, for which an application has to be filed with the concerned Canadian visa office.
