Immigration and Citizenship Minister Brendan O’ Connor announced Australian Immigration Program For 2013 – 2014. For the next year edition the number of slots picked for migrants will remain at same level as current year.
The total number of migrants permitted under different classes in independent i.e. subsection 189 permanent independent, provincial nomination subsection 190 permanent, subsection 489 temporary nomination etc.
Out of these the numbers allocated for skills migration has been bought down by 700 slots to 128550, while the slots for family based schemes have been raised by 700 which amounts now to 60,885. In the total number of slots available 565 slots have been reserved for migrants with special qualifications.
As per the minister the skills Australia Immigration Program forms the back bone of various migration schemes and takes away a major chunk of inward migration of trained migrants i.e. 67% of the total numbers of entry permits issued every year. The trained migrant workforce totals up a major driving force behind the ever expanding productivity of the domestic economy.
These overseas migrants enter the country on basis of the their skilled trades and work in various sectors and make substantial contributions at all levels. With the increasing inward migration of workers, it has become necessary to safeguard the employment opportunities for the local Aussies. As per the minister the rising demands for workers should not lead to entry of excess people into the country and create a factor that leads to ignoring the local workforce.
This makes it imperative for the authorities to take steps to create a process that can help the authorities to weed out unwanted skills at the doorstep itself and in turn pave way for the trained expertise which is critically required in the domestic labor pool.
Moreover, this system will also help in analyzing the available workforce potential and shortlist the best suited candidates from the available pool.
In the newly announced Australia Immigration Program 2013 – 2014 the federal government will continue supporting and helping territorial authorities and governments and also create opportunities for establishing and fostering communities as skills migration initiatives in various territories, provinces and components of economy.
The objective of the slightly modified preferences Australia Immigration Program 2013 – 2014 aim to harness advantages created by combining the top cream of migration program with family classes that will assist Aussies to reside and work along with their close relations, which in turn will bring in incomparable benefits for the economy of the country.
