British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program: Business Immigration!

Under the Business Immigrants Stream, The British Columbia Nominee Program allows foreign entrepreneurs with experience who intend to invest in a BC business and participate in actively in the management of the business to immigrate and later become permanent residents of Canada. The BC PNP nominates individuals, first, who have the capabilities to settle themselves in the province; and secondly, they should be actively  managing a business which will benefit the province’s economy. The stream has three categories-

  1. Business skills
  2. Regional Business and
  3. Strategic Projects

All three categories have different requirements that the BC PNP expects applicants to meet those in respect of the applicant’s personal finance; the amount of investment; region within British Columbia, as well as the number of local workers in the proposed business. Alongside, the applicants must also meet the following criteria under each category:

  • The proposed business’ main objective should be profit earning from active income that comes from the supply of the business’ services and products.
  • The proposed business should be contributing to the economy of the British Columbia through either of the following:
    • Boosting the exports of its services or products;
    • Increasing various activities like value-added manufacturing or processing;
    • Boosting technology commercialization
    • Boosting its research and development
    • Implementing advanced approaches to traditional businesses;
    • Providing services to an unlikely regional market; or
    • Serving British Columbia with technology and skills
