Provincial Nomination Program of Canada is an initiative run by various individual provinces of country in collaboration and coordination with citizenship and immigration Canada – CIC a federal government agency. These programs are state centric and are designed to address diverse needs of states. Requirements for Applications are decided upon by state authorities and are bound to change without notice.
Most of states are having an understanding with Canadian federal authorities, which allows them to steer programs as per their needs and demands in occupational premise. They have the freedom of endorsing candidature of immigration aspirants, who wish to enter the state and make positive economic contribution in the state.
Currently PNPs are being run by following states

- New Brunswick
- Nova Scotia
- Prince Edward Island
- Yukon
- Northwest Territories
The occupational and trade specifications are decided by the state authorities and the parameters to gauge qualifications of applicants are also decided by state authorities.
If you are aspiring to migrate to this North American country through one of these Provincial Endorsement Programs you must file for a nomination by the state where you are intending to go and settle down as permanent resident. You will also need to fulfill all requisite preconditions laid down by the authorities in question. The authorities interactively process your application and grant you nomination on basis of your evidencing your genuine intent to settle down in state and contribute immediately to state’s economy.
Eligibility Parameters for each state PNP are decided by the state independently and it is convenient to explore state’s resources to ascertain your eligibility for the sponsorship based on your trade and job profile. A point worth making a note is that federal point based assessment is not considered in this premise.
You must also undergo a medical examination and procure a police certificate to establish your clean background and track record.
From July 01 2012 most of the Provincial Nomination Programs of Canadian provinces will require applicants in semi or low skilled job categories to undergo a language certification examination to establish their linguistic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Temporary foreign labor falling under NOC C and D trades and ones who arrive in Canada before July 01 2012 have been exempt from such language certification. Migrants arriving in country on basis of employer sponsorship under PNP scheme before July 01 2013 have also been kept out of the purview of this addition in eligibility parameters.
Endorsement by a Province does not however guarantee you an entry into the country as you must then file Application to CIC for permanent residence. This process is evaluated in line with federal procedures and sundry Preconditions must be met to obtain a PR visa.
