A recent report from a reliable source has suggested that the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers which is also known as CAPP and the Building Trade Unions, have announced an agreement to develop a sound skilled workforce in the oil sands county of the nation.
Canada is the second-largest oil producer across the world. The greater part of which, is found in the ‘oil sands’, a region of oil deposits situated mostly in Alberta. The wealth of oil has become a big industry which is giving employment to 10,000 people in the country, including: citizens of Canada, permanent residents, and temporary overseas workers of the nation.
With a purpose to help the businesses get and maintain the required skilled professionals, the Building Trade Unions and the CAPP, have made an agreement through which both the organizations will endorse careers in skilled businesses. They will even work with the government officers to streamline the Canadian labor force in targeted areas.
David Collyer, the CAPP President, in this context, was quoted as saying that this agreement will be focusing on apprenticeship programs, training and people into the skilled force who are presently underrepresented, while accepting immigration as one of the solution to fill up the skills shortages in the country.
The said report has also mentioned that by the year of 2018, the construction industry of Canada will be providing about 180,000 jobs to its people. During that period, around 200,000 skilled professionals will be ready for retirement. Even though there will be several Canadians, who will join the workforce to help in filling up the shortages of labour, yet is it is predicted that there will be about 200,000 skilled professionals need across the nation to continue effective production in the oil sands and all through the nation.
