A governing body is being sought for by the Immigration Department in Canada to supervise the Immigration Agent Industry. According to Jason Kenney, the Immigration Minister for Canada, the government is searching for a regulator who can aid to the long term immigration objections of the nation. At the same time, they should be working to hold and build confidence in the immigration system of the country.
In order to cater to the above, the department has brought out a call for submissions from the parties who would be interested in the above. The deadline for submission is 29th December 2010.
As per the minister, the department wants such a candidate who could investigate with efficiency regarding the members and their conduct. At the same time, the regulator should also be able to sanction those who break the rules.
On the other hand, it is important for them to understand the vulnerability of the people who avail the services of an immigration consultant. More so, the importance to make sure that these agents respect and regard the laws of Canadian immigration.
This governing body formation is one aspect of a bigger strategy meant to forbid the fraudulent agents who target innocent people who are looking out for options pertaining to immigration. Such people fall prey to illegal documentation and paperwork. The strategy is known as Cracking Down on Crooked Consultants Act.
