A scheme named Canadian Immigrant Integration Program or CIIP was established by the Canadian government in 2007 with an objective of offering assistance to new entrants to enable them rapidly adapt to the local conditions of the country and make substantial contributions in the productivity of the Canadian economy. This scheme was converted into a four scheme in 2010 and is expected to continue till 2014.
This initiative is financed by Association of Canadian Community Colleges – ACCC. The program objectives of this scheme involve providing free of cost orientation to migrants and their dependents shifting to the country under FSW, PNPs. The primary goals as described above, i.e. preparing new entrants for contributing to the productivity of the domestic labor pool and finally the local economy.
The accomplishments of Canadian Immigrant Integration Program have been outstanding in terms of figures and performance. This scheme has bought about a substantial change in the way the migrants enter the country and gain fruitful employment. Over 25000 people have been able extract benefits from the CIIP. Over 90% of the credentials immigration enthusiasts were evaluated well before six months of actual submission of correlation study. This Most of these people had enrolled themselves well before moving from their countries of origins. This process assisted more than 70% people in gaining suitable employment. CIIP was also successful with the graduates, as they were able to obtain suitable employment within one year of completion courses under this scheme.
The response of the new entrants has also been quite positive as they have not only been able to substantiate their qualifications for fruitful employment, but the scheme has helped significantly in gaining suitable employment faster. This has enabled them to position themselves better and adapt to the socioeconomic setup of the Maple country. The scheme assists the new entrants with building up a better profile for employment, employment location and even sustenance.
The CIIP has already received an infusion of CAD$ 18 million and the government has announced grant of additional CAD$ 1 million in next six months. The authorities also plan to make provision which can help in ensuring that
Announcement from Immigration Minister
The Minister announced to make an investment of another $1.0 million in another half a year. He also promised that ACCC would look into more ways of making this service even better so that immigrants can be helped for life.
However, there already has been an investment of $18 million in this program.
He informed that the Government is building an immigration system, the focus for which would be economic growth. The efforts are made to ensure that newcomers integrate and actively contribute to the society of Canada. And hence, adequate and required information is provided about credential recognition or even on the labor market and its demands.
CIIP is a program which a shelled and supported many of the immigrants especially the young ones to merge with the culture and economy of the country faster and sooner than expected. All this leads to a better economic growth and more of productivity and helps to make the most of the skilled immigrants in the country.
